Delegates & Abstract Grants

We believe every professional should have the opportunity to share their findings and connect with peers at the IUMS 2026 Congress. To help make your journey to Lisbon a reality, we are delighted to offer various grant opportunities to support your participation.

IUMS Abstract Grants

These grants will be awarded to the highest-scoring abstract submitters to support their attendance at the congress.

Who can apply:

  • Submitters with the highest-scoring abstracts.
  • We will be offering two types of grants based on your country’s economic classification: one for Upper Middle Income and Upper Income countries, and another for Low- and Lower-Middle-Income Countries (LLMICs).

How to apply:

  • Applications are available only during the regular abstract submission period.
  • You must indicate your interest in a grant on the abstract submission form.
  • Selection will be based on the review score of your abstract.

Deadline:

  • The deadline to apply for the Abstract grants is April 29, 2026.

IUMS Registration Grants

These grants are available to support early career participants from Low- and Lower-Middle-Income Countries (LLMICs).

Who can apply:

  • Early career participants whose country of residence is an LLMIC.

How to apply:

  • You can apply during the early registration period.
  • You must answer a questionnaire with questions such as “Why do you want to attend IUMS 2026?” and “What would be the impact of attending on your professional career and local community?”

Collaborating for Global Access

Beyond the core IUMS grant programs, we are proud to collaborate with our prestigious partner organizations to offer additional funding opportunities. These grants are specifically designed to support diversity, inclusion, and the participation of researchers from varying geographical and economic backgrounds.

ESCMID Attendance Grants

ESCMID and its two Study Groups EFWISG and ESGEM offer attendance grant opportunities for eligible applicants.

They are managed through the same application platform and selected from the same applicant pool – you only need to apply once. You will need to create an account and log into our platform in order to apply.

Please prepare a short motivation letter, CV and if applicable a proof of abstract submission in one PDF.

ESCMID Attendance Grant

ESCMID’s study groups EFWISG and ESGEM are offering additional attendance grants to support young scientists in participating at IUMS 2026.

Eligibility criteria

  • Onsite participation at IUMS 2026
  • Must be an ESCMID LMIC member
  • Must be considered a young scientist at the date of IUMS 2026

ESCMID Study Group Attendance Grant

offered by EFWISG and ESGEM

ESCMID’s study groups EFWISG and ESGEM are offering additional attendance grants to support young scientists in participating at IUMS 2026.

Eligibility criteria

  • Onsite participation at IUMS 2026
  • Must be an ESCMID member and considered a young scientist at the date of IUMS 2026
  • Must be the presenting author of an accepted abstract

Required documents: Please include a poof of abstract submission with your application letter.

 

Selection criteria

Applications will be ranked according to (1) the score of the accepted abstract, and (2) member provenance, with applicants from LMICs being prioritised.
