Partnering Organizations and Events
The 19th IUMS Congress is more than a standalone event; it is a convergence of the global microbiology community.
The complexity of modern scientific challenges—from antimicrobial resistance to climate change—requires a level of synergy that transcends borders and disciplines.
This page is dedicated to the prestigious societies, international organizations, and allied events that contribute to the success of IUMS 2026. Together, we are building a collaborative ecosystem where research, policy, and practice meet to define the future of our field.
Host Society & Co-Organizer
IUMS 2026 is proud to be organized in strategic partnership with the Sociedade Portuguesa de Microbiologia (SPM). As the local host society, SPM is the driving force behind the congress, bridging the global mission of IUMS with the academic excellence of the Portuguese scientific community.
This collaboration is foundational to the congress, with SPM playing a lead role in shaping the scientific program and fostering the international exchange that defines our gathering in Lisbon. Together, we are ensuring that IUMS 2026 serves as a world-class platform for researchers to showcase breakthroughs in bacteriology, virology, and mycology.
Partnering Organization
We are honored to acknowledge the support and collaboration of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences (Academia das Ciências de Lisboa). As one of Portugal’s most historic and prestigious intellectual institutions, the Academy’s involvement underscores the cultural and academic significance of IUMS 2026.
Founded in 1779, the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon promotes science as a driver of national progress. As a historic and enduring institution, it serves as a leading forum for Portuguese excellence. Its mission is to advance scientific research; disseminate knowledge and foster national and international exchange; preserve and enhance its collections and cultural heritage; and support the development of thought, literature, language, and other expressions of Portuguese culture. It also provides independent, evidence-based advice across all scientific fields—including the Portuguese language—informing public policy at national and international levels.
